Meet the team

Tobie Lochner is an investment professional with two decades of experience in financial markets. Together with Peter Wille, he is responsible for managing Cuthman Capital’s assets with Peter Wille. Prior to founding Cuthman Capital, Tobie worked as an investment analyst and portfolio manager overseeing several award-winning funds. Tobie holds a B Acc (Hons) degree from the University of Stellenbosch, is a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)). Along with spending quality time with his family, his interests include golf, aviation and wildlife.

Peter Wille has two decades of experience as an analyst and portfolio manager, and oversees the Cuthman Capital Fund with Tobie Lochner. In past roles, he led investment teams, co-managed an award-winning wealth equity fund and launched a prominent Preference Share Fund, which he successfully managed for 11 years. He completed a BCom (Actuarial Science) and BCom Financial Risk Management (Hons) at the University of Stellenbosch, and he is a CFA charterholder. Peter enjoys hiking, surfing and spending time with his family.

Thandi trained as a commercial attorney, with a BComm (Law) and LLB from the University of Stellenbosch and a LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Pretoria. She brings a strong legal and operational background to her role as Chief Operating Officer at Cuthman Capital, where she is responsible for legal affairs and business operations. Thandi is passionate about travelling, nature and spending time with her family.

Justin oversees financial and fund operations at Cuthman Capital. As a chartered accountant, he has extensive experience in financial services and investment management at top firms. Justin holds a B.Bus.Sci (Finance Honours) and PGDA from the University of Cape Town. He enjoys sports, reading, and outdoor activities.

Tertius Pelser is one of Cuthman Capital’s financial analysts, and is responsible for trading, research and company analysis. A qualified Chartered Accountant CA (SA), he has several years of experience in corporate finance and private equity under his belt. He is a CFA charterholder and holds a B Acc (Hons) degree from the University of Stellenbosch. Tertius enjoys being in nature, trail running, reading, travelling, and spending time with his family and dog.

Dirk Visser is a strategic advisor to Cuthman Capital and actively contributes to its investment process. He has more than fifteen years’ experience working with senior leaders and large companies to advance sustainable value creation through research, advisory and capability building. In addition to his Cuthman Capital role, Dirk is a Principal Consultant at Melbourne Business School and previously taught in MBA programmes and executive education courses. Dirk holds a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Masters in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch. He has a keen interest in politics, is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time with his family.

As an analyst in our investment team, Ivan researches market trends and takes care of company analysis and trading. He has worked across investment risk, balance sheet analytics, and ALM, and brings broad experience in insurance, banking, credit risk, and overall risk management. Ivan obtained his BSc (Hons) degree in Actuarial Science at the University of Pretoria. He is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa, having completed his specialist application exam in Finance and Investments. He also holds the designation of Certified Enterprise Risk Actuary. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing the bassoon and tending his bonsai trees.

Josh joined the Cuthman Capital research and trading team in 2022 after completing an MCom in Investment Management at the University of Cape Town. As an analyst, he monitors market trends, conducts company analysis, and manages trades. Josh also holds a Bachelor of Business Science (specialising in Finance and Accounting) degree from the University of Cape Town. Outside of work, Josh enjoys trail running, traveling, spending time in nature and chess.
